TOP 5 TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AND PLACES TO VISIT IN BURUNDI

As the problem has been in many African countries of political instability, this was the same case in Burundi.

It is the smallest country in the East African community, and it is found in the heart of Africa. Many attractions arise in this country as the rift valley passes through it.

It is not that well developed and travelling through it may turn out to be hard, but there are many tourist attractions worth the hardship and that need to be watched.

This country has managed to keep its culture despite being ruled by the French during colonial rule.

There have been many political conflicts since independence, but as I am speaking now, the country is free from any political conflict.

I have compiled for you a list of the top five tourist attractions in this country worth viewing;

Lake Tanganyika

Lake Tanganyika is the longest lake in the world and is one of the rift valley lakes.

A small part of it is found in Burundi, while the largest parts of it are in Tanzania and Zambia.

With many beaches for sunbathing and many luxuriant restaurants, many people believe that it is the best attraction in this country.

You will find there many hippopotamuses and its water is fresh.

Rusizi National Park

If you are a person interested in viewing water animals like hippopotamus and crocodiles, this may be a good place for you.

The skies of this park are clear for viewing birds and it is near the outskirts of Bujumbura.

River Rusizi passes through this park and there are many animals.

Bird watchers get a chance of seeing flamingos and I highly recommend this park to them.

Chutes De La kagera

The slow flowing waterfall

Anyone who loves seeing the running of water of falls should consider visiting this place.

This place is unique in such a way that you will find a collection of many waterfalls in one place, which is not very common in the whole world.

These waterfalls are the Nyakai 1 waterfall, the Nyakai 2 waterfall, the Kagera, the longest of all, and the Mwaro waterfalls.

Some of these waterfalls are not too strong and you can walk through them.

They provide a very beautiful scenery worth watching.

Mountain Heha

This is the tallest mountain in Burundi, and hiking it may be a wonderful venture.

It is found in the Burundi highlands range, and it is over 65 kilometers above the ground.

Hiking this mountain is not too hard as it is not too steep.

You will need to hire private transport while in Burundi, as the transportation system in this area is not all that developed.

Ruvubi National Park

This is the largest park in the whole Burundi and it is found on the land around River Ruvubi.

It has over 400 bird species found there and the surrounding vegetation gives it a beautiful spectacle.

Monkeys, lions, and antelopes are some of the animals that you will get a chance to see.

Conclusion

With the above list now you know that you have a new list of places that you can visit and spend your vacation during holidays or on a honeymoon, but you should be very cautious before visiting any place as some place may not be safe in terms of security.

Make more research about the place that you want to visit for your own safety.
