TOP 5 TOURIST ATTRACTIONS AND PLACES TO VISIT IN UGANDA

 During his visit to Uganda, Sir Winston Churchill was impressed by the unique attributes that he saw, which compelled him to call it ‘the pearl of Africa’ in the early years of colonial rule. 

These unique attributes are still a characteristic of this nation and everyone deserves to know and see them. 

Located on the equator, Uganda has the highest number of gorillas in the world. There are many mountains and national parks filled with wildlife. It is also the home to the source of the Nile, the longest river in the world. 

Here I will compile for you a list of the top five tourist attractions in this part of Africa.

1. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is found in the South Western part of Uganda at the edge of its border with Rwanda. 

This area has the richest ecosystem in Africa as it has 120 animal species. There are diverse rainforests that are habitats to the rare mountain gorillas. 

The activities that you should not miss while in this area are gorilla trekking and watching that are favoured by the wildlife and landscape of this area.

2. Rwenzori National Park

This is the only part of Uganda with snow due the presence of Africa’s third tallest mountain, the Rwenzori mountain.

 It is also referred to as ‘the mountain of the moon’ by the locals. The snow is found on top of the highest peak of this mountain. There is some rare vegetation in this area. 

Bird watchers will also like this part of Uganda as there are over 217 bird species. It is a world heritage site with extraordinary natural beauty.

3. Queen Elizabeth National Park

This is found in Western Uganda, and it was named after Queen Elizabeth of England. There is a sprawling savannah with humid forests and it is found in the great lakes region.

 It is a good habitat for many birds and animal species. Game Driving is an activity that feels great while in this area and maybe makes it the most visited park in the country. 

There are hot air balloons that add to the great experience of exploring this part of Africa.

4. Murchison Falls National Park

This is the largest park in Uganda found in the North-Western part of this country. 

There are over 76 species of animals and over 451 birds. The water flows from over 30 metres, forming a nice spectacle, and the sound from the water flow feels like melodies with misty fresh air blowing from it. 

Boat Cruising is a very common activity in the area favoured by the fast running water.

5. Kibale Forest National Park

Found in the southern part of Uganda, 766km from the country’s capital, this park has moist evergreen vegetation.

 Its primates mount to over 13 species, including blue and red-tailed monkeys. You will find both lowland and montane vegetation which is worth watching. There is a diverse array of landscape. 

Gorilla watching and chimpanzee treKking are the activities that you will find very interesting in this area if you are a fun of them or would like to give them a try.
